What to expect on a Dance Night:
People of all ages and walks
of life come to dance at Christian Social Dance Association events.
We offer real dancing for real men and real women in an atmosphere that
celebrates the life that God gave us.
On each dance night at 7pm, Tim and Lori Veach teach a semi-private
"Introduction to Social Dance class" that is designed for persons who have
never been on a dance floor before. It is available only by reservation.
To attend this class, email Tim and Lori at
admin@christiansoicaldance.org or call Tim at 503.278.8490. This
class is free with purchase of admission to the dance.
The
evening begins for the rest of us at 7:30pm. Before each social dance,
there is always a one hour dance lesson designed for advanced and
beginning dancers and taught by a professional dance instructor. This
lesson is free with purchase of admission to the dance.
The Social Dance begins at 8:30pm. It is much like other Ballroom social
dances in that we offer a mix of music to dance Ballroom, Latin, and Swing
throughout the evening. We also mix into the dance a little Country
Western.
We are frequently asked, What makes us different from all other Ballroom
social dances?
There are only a couple things that are different from other Ballroom
Social Dances. We believe these differences make our dances unique
and special!
1. In an attempt to promote Christian artists in
social dance, we offer social dancing entirely to music recorded and/or
written by Christians.
It's not necessarily "Church music" -- but it can be! See: "About
Our Dance Music" near the bottom of this page. You can also listen
online to some of our unique dance music.
2. We begin each event
with a short prayer asking God's Spirit to join us in our celebration.
